Driekie van Wyk is a Cape Town based artist and her creativity and artistic abilities was evident from a very young age. At the age of 14 she was commissioned to do illustrations for her local school newspaper on a regular basis.

This passion for art has grown over the years with various paintings and drawings. After a recent traumatic experience of losing a baby, her artistic ability excelled & increased literally overnight. She transitioned into Contemporary art in 2015 with her first oil on canvas work and has never looked back since. Driekie is a mother of 2 and a completely self-taught artist. Her passion is portraits as human facial expressions is something that intrigues and  fascinates her.

“A hundred people can look at a facial expression and have various opinions on the emotions being portrayed. Yet, it is only the person himself that truly knows the emotion that lies behind it.”
